    Native to the tropical forests of South America, Calathea Medallion is named for its striking, medallion-shaped leaves with painterly patterns of deep green, light silver, and purple undersides. Like others in the prayer plant family, its leaves move gently with the light. Fun fact: the purple undersides aren’t just for show — they help the plant capture and reflect light in low-light forest floors.

    Light Guide

    Calathea Medallion prefers medium to bright, indirect light. In UAE homes, place it near a window that gets filtered daylight - sheer curtains or soft ambient light work well. Too much direct sunlight can cause fading or crispy edges.
    Watering

    Keep the soil lightly and consistently moist, but never soggy. Allow the top 2–3cm to dry out before watering again. Calatheas are sensitive to hard water and overwatering. A self-watering pot is a helpful solution - it delivers moisture from the base and prevents soggy soil, which can help reduce brown leaf tips.
    Temperature & Humidity

    This plant thrives in temperatures between 20–28°C and prefers moderate to high humidity. In air-conditioned UAE homes, avoid placing it in direct A/C flow. Misting, using a pebble tray, or positioning it in a bathroom with natural light can help maintain ideal humidity levels.
