    Native to the rainforests of Brazil, the Prayer Plant is named for its fascinating habit of folding its leaves upward at night, resembling hands in prayer. With bold red veins and deep green leaf patterns, it brings a touch of movement and colour to indoor spaces. Fun fact: its leaves visibly shift position throughout the day in response to light - a natural rhythm known as nyctinasty.

    Prayer Plants prefer medium to bright, indirect light. In UAE homes, they do well in spots with gentle filtered light - near a north-facing window or behind a sheer curtain. Avoid direct sunlight, which can bleach the leaf colours and cause curling.
    Watering

    Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but never soggy. Let the top 2-3cm dry out slightly before watering again. Using a self-watering pot is ideal for Prayer Plants - it helps maintain consistent moisture from below without water-logging the roots.
    Temperature & Humidity

    This plant thrives in temperatures between 20-28°C and appreciates higher humidity. While it can tolerate standard indoor conditions, it will look its best with occasional misting or placement in a humid room like a bathroom or kitchen. Keep away from cold drafts or dry A/C airflow.
    Ongoing Care

    Wipe the leaves gently to keep the patterns vibrant and dust-free. Remove any yellowing or crispy leaves at the base. If your Prayer Plant becomes leggy or uneven, feel free to trim it back - it responds well to a little shaping and will grow back fuller.
